Withdrawal of Manuscript

1. General Policy

Hasanah in Economics (HIEC) recognizes that authors may occasionally need to withdraw a manuscript after submission. However, manuscript withdrawal must be conducted through a formal procedure to maintain publication ethics, editorial integrity, and the efficient use of editorial and peer-review resources.

Authors are strongly encouraged to carefully review their manuscripts before submission. Once a manuscript has entered the editorial process, withdrawal should only be requested for legitimate reasons and must be approved by the editorial team.

2. Conditions for Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors may request withdrawal under circumstances such as:

  1. A substantial error or problem is identified in the submitted manuscript.

  2. The manuscript has been submitted unintentionally or contains incorrect files.

  3. There is a legitimate authorship dispute that requires resolution.

  4. Ethical, legal, or research-integrity concerns require the submission to be withdrawn.

  5. Other reasonable circumstances that are explained and accepted by the Editor-in-Chief.

Withdrawal requests will not automatically be approved. The editorial team may request additional information or clarification before making a decision.

3. Withdrawal Procedure

To request manuscript withdrawal, the corresponding author must send a formal written request to the editorial office at hasanahineconomiceditor@gmail.com.

The request must include:

  • The full title of the manuscript.

  • The manuscript ID assigned by the HIEC submission system, if available.

  • The names of all authors.

  • The corresponding author's name and contact information.

  • A clear explanation of the reason for withdrawal.

  • Confirmation that all co-authors have been informed of and agree to the withdrawal.

The editorial office will review the request and communicate its decision to the corresponding author. Where necessary, the editor may seek confirmation from the co-authors or request supporting documentation.

4. Withdrawal Before Acceptance

A manuscript may be withdrawn before acceptance, subject to editorial approval. Authors should not assume that a submission has been withdrawn until they receive written confirmation from the editorial office.

If the manuscript is still under review, the editorial team will notify the assigned reviewers, where applicable, that the review process has been discontinued.

5. Withdrawal After Acceptance

Requests to withdraw a manuscript after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as a substantiated ethical concern, a significant error, or a serious authorship dispute.

The Editor-in-Chief will assess the request and determine the appropriate action. If the manuscript has already entered production, authors may be asked to explain why the issue could not have been identified earlier.

Withdrawal after acceptance will not be granted solely to facilitate submission to another journal without a legitimate explanation.

6. Prohibition of Simultaneous Submission

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to another journal while it is under consideration by HIEC. If authors wish to submit their manuscript elsewhere, they must first obtain written confirmation that the manuscript has been withdrawn from HIEC.

Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is considered a breach of publication ethics and may result in editorial action.

7. Withdrawal After Publication

Once an article has been formally published, it cannot ordinarily be treated as a withdrawn submission. If serious errors, ethical concerns, or other significant issues arise after publication, HIEC will consider an appropriate post-publication action, including a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the circumstances.

Such decisions will follow a documented editorial assessment and the relevant principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

8. Unethical or Improper Withdrawal

HIEC may take appropriate action when a withdrawal request is associated with suspected misconduct, including simultaneous submission, fabricated information, undisclosed authorship disputes, or attempts to manipulate the publication process.

Any action will be proportionate to the circumstances and consistent with applicable publication-ethics principles.

9. Withdrawal Fees

HIEC does not charge a fee for submitting a manuscript withdrawal request. Authors are encouraged to request withdrawal as early as possible to minimize unnecessary editorial and reviewer workload.

10. Editorial Discretion and Appeals

The Editor-in-Chief has the authority to assess and decide on manuscript withdrawal requests in accordance with this policy. Authors who disagree with a decision may submit a written appeal explaining their concerns and providing relevant supporting information.

All withdrawal requests, decisions, and related communications will be handled confidentially, subject to applicable legal and ethical requirements.
