Hasanah in Economics (HIEC) is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing original scholarly research in Islamic economics, general economics, finance, banking, business economics, entrepreneurship, digital economics, and sustainable economic development.
Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that align with the journal's Focus and Scope.
Submitted manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal. Authors must ensure that their submissions comply with the journal's publication ethics, research integrity requirements, and manuscript preparation standards.
Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Indonesian, subject to the journal's language policy. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and academic quality of their manuscripts.
All submissions must be made through the official HIEC website.
HIEC welcomes the following manuscript types:
Original Research Articles: Quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, econometric, experimental, and other appropriate empirical studies.
Theoretical and Conceptual Articles: Contributions that develop or critically examine economic theories, models, and conceptual frameworks.
Systematic Literature Reviews: Structured reviews using transparent search strategies, explicit eligibility criteria, and appropriate synthesis methods.
Comparative and Interdisciplinary Studies: Research comparing economic systems, institutions, policies, or economic phenomena across contexts.
All submissions must demonstrate originality, methodological rigor, relevance to economics, and a clear scholarly contribution.
Research articles should generally follow the structure below, unless an alternative is justified by the research design and the journal's template.
The title must be concise, informative, and accurately represent the subject of the study. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and overly general expressions.
Provide each author's full name, institutional affiliation, country, and the corresponding author's email address. Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD.
Author identities must be removed from the anonymized manuscript file to preserve the integrity of the double-blind peer-review process.
The abstract should generally contain 150–250 words and summarize the research objective, methods, principal findings, and contribution or implications. It should be self-contained and normally avoid citations.
Provide 3–5 keywords that represent the main research concepts, variables, methods, or subject areas.
The introduction should explain the research background, problem statement, research gap, objectives, significance, and expected contribution. Relevant literature should establish the academic context of the study.
Discuss relevant theories, previous empirical findings, and conceptual relationships. Hypotheses or research propositions should be presented when appropriate.
Describe the research design, data sources, population or sample, sampling procedures, instruments, analytical methods, and relevant ethical considerations. The methodology must be sufficiently detailed to permit critical evaluation.
Present findings systematically and interpret them in relation to research questions, established theories, and previous studies. Discuss the theoretical, empirical, practical, or policy implications of the findings.
Summarize the principal findings, research contribution, implications, and limitations. Recommendations for policy or future research may be included where relevant.
Disclose relevant funding, institutional support, and contributions. Authors must also declare any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest. If no conflict exists, include an explicit declaration.
All cited sources must appear in the reference list, and every reference-list entry must be cited in the manuscript. Authors should verify bibliographic details and DOI links before submission.
Authors should use the official HIEC manuscript template available through the journal website, if provided.

HIEC uses a double-blind peer-review model, under which author and reviewer identities are concealed from each other during the review process.
Authors must submit an anonymized manuscript without names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or other identifying details. Author information should be entered separately in the OJS metadata fields or uploaded as a separate title page when requested.
Submissions undergo initial editorial screening for scope, originality, completeness, formatting, and ethical compliance before external review.
Editorial decisions are based on scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, reviewer recommendations, and compliance with publication ethics.
Further information should be provided on the journal's Peer Review Process page, if available.
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's official Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
Authors should:
Register for an account or log in to an existing account.
Select the author role where required.
Start a new submission.
Enter the title, abstract, keywords, and author metadata accurately.
Upload the anonymized manuscript and any required supplementary files.
Confirm compliance with the journal's submission and publication ethics requirements.
Complete the submission and monitor its status through OJS.
Authors may consult the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) and its OJS documentation for general information about the publishing platform.
Submission through OJS does not guarantee acceptance or publication.
Any submission fee, article processing charge (APC), or other publication-related fee must be disclosed transparently on the journal's website.
Authors should consult the journal's official Author Fees information, where available, before submission.
Payments must follow the publisher's verified procedures. Authors should not make payments based on unofficial requests or unverified payment instructions. Applicable waivers, refunds, and payment requirements should follow the journal's published policy.
Authors should review HIEC's copyright, licensing, and open-access policies before submitting their manuscripts.
If the journal adopts a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, details are available at Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
The journal must clearly identify the license actually applied to its articles. Authors should ensure that third-party materials comply with applicable copyright and licensing conditions.
Further information about open-access publishing is available from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). A link to DOAJ is provided as a general resource and does not indicate that HIEC is indexed by DOAJ.
Where article DOIs are assigned, authors should ensure that DOI links and bibliographic metadata are accurate. Crossref provides DOI registration and scholarly metadata services to participating members and publishing organizations.
Authors are encouraged to register for an ORCID iD to support accurate author identification and the association of scholarly outputs with individual researchers.
References to Crossref and ORCID describe external scholarly infrastructure and do not imply that HIEC has a particular membership, integration, or registration status unless independently confirmed.
Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts following editorial screening or peer review. Revised submissions should include a point-by-point response to reviewer comments and clearly identify the changes made.
Acceptance depends on editorial assessment, peer-review outcomes, compliance with ethical requirements, and completion of the journal's applicable publication procedures.
The editorial team reserves the right to reject manuscripts that fall outside the journal's scope, do not meet scholarly standards, or fail to comply with publication policies.
For inquiries about submissions, manuscript preparation, peer review, editorial decisions, and publication procedures, please contact the HIEC editorial office.
